Winter of 2005.
Like
I’ve said, “There is NO winter in Florida”, so it’s taken some getting used to
teeing it up in, say, January, February or March on any consistent basis. I
have overcome that difficulty; however, I still find my game lacking somewhat as
a result of not playing DAILY. I’m working on accepting the fact that I can
just go out and, for the most part, score in the lower eighties. To score lower
I must hit ALL my shots, put the ball in correct places, AND made a few putts
to break eighty. That has happened, even on my self-limited playing schedule,
twice in nine outings (writing date March 18th, 2005) so far this
WINTER.
I’m
not disappointed with my scoring, just adjusting. I think the
thing that’s most difficult is playing with different people all the time, of
different skill levels, temperaments and backgrounds, and that would all be
good if golf was just social for me but it’s not, it’s about playing well and
scoring low and sometimes all those “other things” interfere. Florida has been
a series of adjustments (to say the least) but I do play better in the wind,
better in the rain, better on wet grounds and am working on understanding
Bermuda grass (haven’t smoked any yet, but I’d bet that’d be interesting).
I’ll
probably manage over 200 holes in my Florida Winter of 2005.
