Afghanistan, the taliban, and the end of Osama bin Laden.

After the terrorist attacks in New York took down the World Trade Center, the fumbling forty-third President of the United States, George W. Bush destroyed the current ruling element in Afghanistan, the Taliban sect of Muslim fundamentalists whom were destroying their host country and providing shelter and protection to the alleged mastermind of the events of September 11th, 2001, Osama (or Usama) bin Laden. By years end the battle was mostly over, and as “mop up” operations covered the country, somehow, somehow, Osama bin Laden and Mullah Mohammed Omar, the one eyed religious leader who’d only been out of the country once in his entire live, escaped capture by the now occupying armies of the United States of America and a loose coalition of historically squabbling “locals”.

In the middle east, where several countries had been put on notice for being “terrorist states”, and an obvious plan was being developed to deal once and for all with Saddam Hussein in Iraq, the Israeli state was plagued with what were now referred to as “Homicide Bombers” rather than “Suicide Bombers” to such a degree that the Israeli armies invaded all Palestinian territories and rounded up known terrorists as they’d expected the PLO to do.

The American Secretary of State visited the region and came away with an agreement that said, “When their army pulls out, we will stop the bombings and begin talks”. Apparently he was unable to convince the Prime Minister of Israel that his method of dealing with terrorists had to be different than our dealing with terrorists” AND answer the question, “Haven’t you really backed off the terrorists Mr. President? Or, perhaps, “Don’t you believe, and have proof that Yassar Arafat is a terrorist and aren’t we suppose to eliminate them?”

Word comes now after almost two years, following the capture of several high level leaders of the al-Qaeda terrorist group (most notably Khalid Shaikh Mohammed), that Osama bin Laden may, they continue t insist on maybe, cornered in a far off section of Pakistan, bordering on Iran, and the, and I quote “The net is closing”. It seems to me, and it has for some time, that this fucking guy, who must be traveling with hundreds of body guards, MUST be visible to locals, our spies, our CIA operatives on the ground and probably, even most likely, by those wonderful satellites we have flying all over the fucking globe tracking everything and everyone we’re remotely interested in. I’d put up as evidence satellite photos of the startup of nuclear reactors in North Korea and missile placements in Iraq. I’ve also heard braggadocio from military type that you can see a golf ball from space using these technologies, so why can’t we spot this man, with all his support troupes, traveling across barren regions of the earth? Why indeed? Well, perhaps it’s time to catch him when it’s politically useful to our government.  In any event, as we now approach war with Iraq, 250,000 kids on the border, armed, perhaps it’s become the time to capture this monster whom, I’m sure, will not be taken alive should we actually close in on him, thereby making himself the martyr he’s indicated he’s prefer to become. To him I say, “Good riddance”, and say hello to Allah for me and I hope your explanation of how you’ve twisted one of the worlds major religions to suit your needs, encouraging hundreds, perhaps thousands of young people and misguided older folks as well, to kill themselves and innocent thousands of others (the World Trade Center Towers comes to mind), perhaps Allah will forgive you, perhaps NOT.
