Jim Tragaskis showed up, today, as planned. Jim Tragaskis was real.

He asked about the status of what had been done, looking for and pointing to opportunities.

Just a question, I asked, "How do you guys know what's next?"

"We follow a pattern" was the response.

At one point in time he said, "Aren't you the Operations Manager?" during the exchanges concerning contracts with others. How do you prove you're getting what you asked for?

"I wish we, someone in our organization had control of what Jim Tragaskis saw as the entire operation, at least to the point of being responsible for meeting goals. The place just doesn't work that way, at least not yet."

We passed our semi-annual audit, with four minors, or non-conformances, all assigned to me. Mostly, I was to put the word "shall" into ALL appropriate locations.
