Muldoon's
If you go down to
Pullman Avenue
just behind the Lusty
Life bookstore,
you'll see a green, neon
sign hanging over a door -
go in there.
If it's the weekend, the
band will be playing
and the place will be
full, but not too.
You may have to pay
because
"Swampy" collects .
It's cheaper, if you’re
a regular.
The people you’ll see
are like most others
except they all seem
to be having a good
time.
There’s laughing and
drinking
and people are friends.
On weekdays you'll find
the lunch bunch
of which I am a member,
although at time, known
as "Golden Afternoons"
we've all become
members, joining the night set .
The point of this place
was once summed up
"an original
neighbourhood bar”,
yet, now, it seems,
people have changed
and newer friends live
at this magic place.
A combination of talk to
honest people
with the greatest of mix
you can imagine,
causes you to think.
In knowing them I've
learned about myself.
Go on down there
and maybe you'll find
out about you.
