The defeat of fear
through hope
(A Christmas
Story)
A long time ago
in a far off land
just about this time of
year,
a child was born
who changed the world.
His life
was harder than most
because he was different
and wouldn't give in
to the thought of the
day.
He said
that we should love each
other
and that all men were
brothers,
and he proved it
by the way he lived.
He grew to manhood
under a terrible strain
overcome by him
with a belief in the
goodness of humanity.
Suffer he did
at the hands of others
who dragged him down
towards their level,
rather than come towards
his.
What was left
was a roadmap for life,
where what you believe
is the worth of your
life
not to be swayed by
others.
He represents hope
in a world dark with
fear
where the masses
huddled in cold,
still draw you to them.
Down through time his
ideas remain,
attempted to be changed
in that same cold
by those same masses.
What all of us could do
is to listen
as he did so long ago
for it's still true God
lives within us.
The point of this child
was not in organization
but in that of the
self-seeking soul.
In that
is the hope for us all.
Only in self hope
comes the love we all
need
to carry us past
the cold of the mass
towards a brighter
tomorrow.
That's a lot to say
to anyone still
listening,
but the world is still
full
of fear and coldness.
While time moves on
more and more people
accept that cold,
it becomes custom.
Hope and love
conform to conformity.
If each of us
were true to their self,
not swayed by all others
the hope of the self
would make gods of us
all.
It's in the self that we
are,
and only there
with that definition
can their be love.
Don't
form your definitions
from all others,
their points of view
are them, not you.
Don't be afraid
to be your self,
just remember that
child.
One can change the
world,
by believing in ones
self.
